Installing the Application Role

To install the Application role on a server:

  1. Firewall Requirements
Ensure that ports 80 (HTTP), 443 (HTTPS), 22 (SSH), and 21 (FTP) are open on your server's firewall.

  2. Recommended Setup
It's recommended to run the Application role and Database role on the same server for improved performance.

  3. Install the Application Role

    • Navigate to Servers: In the left sidebar, click on "Servers."
    • Select Server: Locate the server where you want to install the Application role and select "Manage" from the dropdown menu.
    • Add the Role: Scroll down to the Roles section, click Add role, and check the Application checkbox.
    • Choose Webserver Type: Select your desired web server type (Apache, LiteSpeed, OpenLiteSpeed, or Nginx). You can find a comparison of web servers to help with your choice.
    • Complete the Form: Fill out the required details and click Add role to install the Application role.
  4. Mapping Existing Websites
The Application role will not automatically be assigned to existing websites. To map websites to the new role, use the "Move server" option in the left-hand menu.

This process ensures that your server is equipped with the necessary tools to manage applications like web servers, PHP, FTP, and other essential services.
