Migrate MySQL to MariaDB

You can move websites from a MySQL server to MariaDB using the 'Move website' tool.

WARNING:

Before migrating a website from MySQL to MariaDB, you must delete any database users using caching_sha2_password and re-create them with mysql_native_password. You can retrieve the existing password from wp-config.php. MariaDB does not support caching_sha2_password.

Steps to Move Websites Between MySQL and MariaDB Servers:

  1. Open Websites in the left sidebar.
  2. Select one or more websites you wish to move and click Move server.
  3. On the Move server page, select the destination server from the Database role dropdown.
  4. Click Next, then Continue to confirm the move.
  5. You will be redirected to a progress page where you can track the migration.
