Installing the DNS Role

Follow these steps to install the DNS role on a server:

  1. Open Servers in the left sidebar.
  2. Select the server where you want to add the DNS role.
  3. Click Add role and check the DNS box.
  4. Complete the form and click Add role.

Helpful Tips:

  • Firewall Settings: Ensure port 53 is open on your firewall to enable DNS functionality.
  • Server Requirements: For a server running only the DNS role, 2GB RAM and 20GB disk are recommended.
  • Service Installation: You can leave the server page during installation; you’ll receive a notification when it's completed.
