Optimizing Servers for WordPress
Enhance provides the necessary tools for optimizing your servers, but the following optimizations can help ensure the best performance for your websites:
-
Select Servers with NVMe SSD Storage
Using servers with local NVMe SSD storage improves I/O performance compared to network-attached storage, SATA, SAS SSDs, or spinning disks. This is crucial for websites with large MySQL databases. -
Use Servers with a Modern CPU and High Clock Speed
While the number of CPU cores is important for scaling, higher clock speeds are more relevant for improving site speed and reducing TTFB (time to first byte). -
Enable Opcode Caching
Toggle opcode caching "on" in the Enhance control panel to speed up PHP code execution. -
Utilize LiteSpeed / OpenLiteSpeed + LSCache
If you are running WordPress websites, switch to LiteSpeed or OpenLiteSpeed and install the LiteSpeed Cache plugin via the WordPress plugin manager. This can improve TTFB to around 10ms for cached content. -
Avoid Overloading Your Servers
Spread customers across a larger number of servers to avoid the "bad neighbor" effect and ensure adequate CPU resources for efficient site performance. Enhance doesn't charge per-server licenses, making it more cost-effective to scale.
