Moving Files or Folders Using DirectAdmin's File Manager
DirectAdmin’s File Manager makes it easy to move files or folders from one directory to another. Follow these steps to move your files:
Step 1: Locate the Files or Folders to Move
- Log in to your DirectAdmin control panel.
- Access the File Manager and navigate to the directory containing the files or folders you wish to move.
Step 2: Select the Files or Folders
- Place a checkmark in the last column next to the files or folders you want to move.
Step 3: Choose the Destination Directory
- Use the Move To dropdown menu (located at the bottom of the File Manager) to select the destination directory.
- Alternatively, you can right-click on the file or folder and select Move To from the context menu.
Step 4: Move the Files or Folders
- Click the Move To button.
- Once the action is complete, you will be automatically redirected to the destination directory where you can see the moved files or folders.
Important Notes
- Overwriting Files: If a file with the same name already exists in the destination directory, the move operation will overwrite it without a confirmation prompt.
- Difference from Copying: Moving files removes them from the original directory, whereas copying leaves the original files intact.
- Permissions: Ensure you have the correct permissions to move files, especially for shared accounts or restricted directories.
